I really like the lighting and the post production on this.
for some reason though, I think it might look better landscape? what do you think?
I think its because of the negative space on the top and bottom. ;)

I really like this shot, but I have to agree with loganthomas. The dark space at the top (not so much the bottom) serves to lead the eye out of the photo and breaks the focus on the book. However, I do really like the DOF, tone, and contrast in this!

Yeah, I agree with you guys. I think I liked the contrast a little too much on the book, which in turn darkened the top half of the photo. I'll keep an eye on that from now on. Thanks :)

Thanks for the criticism, I'm new at this and it really helps. I completely agree with you on the landscape bit, and see my response to holymacro for the darkness issue. Haha, I'm too lazy to type it twice.

Hey, no problem. Don't think of it as a mistake, it's not, just a difference in taste/opinion. If the darker contrast makes you happy, then by all means, go for it! Constructive criticism helps, but make sure you take into account what you like first!

And I agree with NewSphoto, once you like your piece and all its aspects, thats what really matters ;)
